SPECIAL NEWSLETTER - POND SINKHOLE​

On Thursday morning, 2/15/24, a Board Member noticed the lake level was down and investigated to find a 10’ x 5’ sinkhole on the south border of the pond with pond water running into the sinkhole.   It appears deep and the pond level is approximately 7”-8” below “normal” level.

Please note that this sinkhole area is strictly off limits, and no person is permitted within 10 feet of the sinkhole without expressed permission of the FTHOA Board of Directors.  This is for your safety and the legal protection of the HOA.  The HOA will not be responsible for any injuries related to the sinkhole.  Special assessments will be considered for anyone violating this restriction.
 

The Board has purchased sand bags and placed on lake perimeter which has currently stopped water from escaping into the sinkhole from the pond.  We also contacted Warren County Stormwater Department who inspected the area on Thursday and reported on Friday that they will not make repairs.  We have gained some advice on possible options speaking to both the County Stormwater Director and the engineering firm that was involved in the original development of our subdivision.   Following up on their advice, we met at the pond with a county engineer on Monday morning to discuss repair options.

We will be working to investigate viable options and related costs as soon as possible, and will update further when we have more information.  In the meantime, please contact a Board member if you have any questions.  ​
